Sugar Ramos vs. Davey Moore
March 21, 1963
On this day in fistiana in Los Angeles, CA, Sugar Ramos defeated Davey Moore in a tragic fight. Moore was rendered unconscious in the fight but it was later determined his injury and death was caused by a whiplash motion of the head which occurred as he collapsed into the ropes. Soon after boxing rings were made with four ropes instead of three, thus reducing the likelihood a similar death might occur.
