Luis "KO King" Rosa had to settle for a No Contest versus Luis Hinojosa in last night's Broadway Boxing Main Event at the Premier Ballroom at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Mashantucket, CT.
A severe cut, likely caused by an accidental head butt that opened up on the head of Hinojosa at the end of round number one forced Ref. Johnny Callas to wave off the fight. As only one round had been completed the fight was considered a No Contest.

The first belonged mostly to Rosa who had Hinojosa working hard to keep the KO King off of him. Luis Rosa of New Haven, CT,  attacked the body of Hinojosa from the start, with a couple shots landing below the belt. Luis Hinojosa of Santo DomingoDominican Republic, was on the deck

briefly but the punch was ruled a low blow. When they continued the action heated up and both fighters heads collided in the final seconds of the round opening a bloody gash over the right eye of Hinojosa. The ringside physicians were up in the corner of Hinojosa and advised Ref. Callas that the fight should be stopped. Rosa's record remains at 22-0(10) and Hinojosa's at 28-9(17) after the No Contest. Both fighters weighed 123 pounds for the bout.

Jennifer Salinas now fighting out of Providence, RI, stopped Angel Gladney of ColumbusSC, in the fourth round of their third encounter. Salinas, 138lbs and celebrating her birthday, came right out

behind a chopping overhand right that reddened the face of Gladney, 139lbs, in the first. Pressing the action, Salinas blasted away with the right and both hands to Gladney's body softening her up en route to the fourth round finish. Halfway through the fourth, with Gladney absorbing punishment, Ref. Eddie Claudio stepped in to halt the action at 1:51. With the victory Salinas improves to 19-3(5) while Gladney slips to 9-12-1(6).

Charles Foster, of New Haven, CT, stopped Willie Williams of BaltimoreMD, at 2:01 of round 2. Foster, 174lbs, pelted Williams mercilessly in round one and had referee Eddie Claudio looking closely towards the end of the round. Things continued in much the same in round two, with Foster scoring with a mean right hook to the body from the southpaw stance. Williams,

177lbs, had no answers and with Foster landing repeatedly the ringside physician climbed up onto the apron and asked the referee to halt matters. Foster improves to 11-)(6) while Williams drops to 14-12-2(4).

Eighteen year old, Mykquan Williams of East Hartford, CT stopped Abdel Vera of Carolina, Puerto Rico at 1:33 of round number 3 to improve to 2-0(2). Vera falls to 0-4.

Irvin Gonzalez of Worcester, MA, made a successful pro-debut with a first round blitz of Gilvan Santos of Framingham, MA. Gonzalez, 137lbs, flattened Santos, 139lbs, in his own corner

with a powerful left jab. Gonzalez is now official at 1-0(1) while Gilvan Santos drops to 0-3.
