Both Peter Manfredo Jr, of Providence, RI and Rich Gingras, of Lincoln, RI, scaled 169lbs at yesterday's weigh-in for their Main Event atop the CES promoted "Pride & Power" card tonight in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Gingras has been more active and is likely the more conditioned of these two fighters; add to that the fact that Gingras is coming off a career best performance in
a Majority Draw versus Vladine Biosse in July, a fight this observer thought he deserved on hustle alone, and it is Gingras with all the momentum. But Manfredo is the far more experienced prize-fighter and if he's sharp and in good shape he should be well capable of turning back the likes of this hometown rival.
Look for Manfredo to establish some distance early and try to blunt the aggression he's sure to see from Gingras. They'll exchange as the fight wears on and it'll be the educated blows of Manfredo that find their way past Gingras' pressuring assault. But Gingras has far fewer miles on him than Manfredo and he's not going to make this easy. His determination and doggedness made up for the deficit he had in skill versus Biosse and it may help him the same way tonight if an unfit, shop-worn Manfredo shows up.
But don't bet on that. These two are regional rivals and the venue is likely to sell-out by fight time. All the ingredients are in place for action-packed main event.
Sure, expect the result of Manfredo by unanimous decision but this regional war is going to be heated and don't be at all surprised if this ends controversially after a close one and begs a rematch.

Clampitt hopes to return with this one bout to end her career with a definitive victory over 132 and a half pound Dominga Olivo of Brooklyn, NY.
