The New Generation” included decisive victories over 11-0-1 Amos Cowart and
14-0-2 Abel Ramos, as well as a crushing first-round stoppage of the
experienced Aaron Herrera. Prograis made his New York Barclays
Center June 26, 2016 ,
stopping Luiz Florez in four rounds to capture the NABF belt. Ranked no. 4 by
the WBC, Prograis was sidelined for several months due to an injury suffered at
the gym, but returned on February
11 of this
year to score a first-round knockout versus Wilfrido Buelvas in defense of his
NABF belt.
Joel Diaz Jr. (23-0, 19 KOs ) turned pro in 2010 following an outstanding 85-10
amateur career. Diaz headlined ShoBox in May 2014, earning a 10-round unanimous
decision over 14-1 Canadian prospect Tyler Asselstine. His successful 2014
campaign continued with a 3rd round
knockout against 8-1 Kevin Aguilar and a 4th round knockout with one body shot over
veteran Pedro Navarette that December. In 2016, Diaz scored three wins by
stoppage versus former WBC Youth titlist Abraham Gomez, Brazilian champion
Joaquim Carneiro and 15-1 Mario Beltre.

FORMER WORLD CHAMPION KALI REIS HEADLINES PACKED UNDERCARD
Former WBO Female Middleweight Champion Kali Reis fights against the very tough Ashleigh Curry (7-10-4, 1KO) in a special 6 round Jr. Middleweight Female match that highlights a sensational undercard to the Delvin Rodriguez - Courtney Pennington fight Thursday, May 11th, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
Reis won the WBO Title April 16, 2016, defeating Maricela Cornejo in New Zealand but lost it in her first defense as she traveled to Germany to take on Christina Hammer in her last fight on November 5th of last year. Reis is known for her all action style and always brings a large contingent of fans to her fights.
Curry has fought many of the top females in her division and the tough southpaw has given all of them hard fights. Curry was stopped in her pro debut, but since then has gone the distance in every fight. She has battled with the likes of Melissa St. Vil, Melissa Hernandez, and Mary McGee.

contender Delvin Rodriguez, (29-8-4 ,
16KO's) Danbury , CT 10-4-1 , 5KO's) in a 10 round Jr. Middleweight matchup on Thursday, May
11th, at The
Mohegan Sun Arena. Pennington earned the right to fight
Rodriguez by securing two huge back to back upset victories over highly
regarded favorites. The event, part of the exciting "Slugfest at the
Sun" promises to be another
action-packed lineup of professional boxing promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing®.
Delvin has fought many elite
fighters in his career including world champions Miguel Cotto, Erislandy Lara,
and Austin Trout. Delvin is hoping for one more shot at the world title
and the glory it brings. This will be Delvin's 8th appearance at the
Mohegan Sun Arena. The popular Jr. Middleweight is coming off a hard
fought 10 round decision victory over Shawn Cameron which also took place at
the Mohegan Sun on July
23rd of last
year. Delvin has a large following in the area since he thrills fans with
exciting brawls.
Pennington is coming off two big
upset victories and is looking to make Rodriguez his third straight
victim. Courtney stopped former amateur standout Boyd Melson who carried
a mark of (15-1, 1KO) going into the match on November 19th of last year. After defeating
Melson, Pennington traveled to the hometown of favored Khiary Gray
Pitts (who was 14-2, 11 KO's going into the fight) on February 4th, 2017 and came away with a unanimous decision victory dropping
Pitts twice on the way to victory. Pennington knows Rodriguez will be the
toughest and most experienced opponent he has faced in his career but is
confident of victory.
The two fighters had these
comments about their upcoming fight "I'm happy to be fighting at The Sun
again" said Rodriguez. "I know Pennington is a young, hungry
lion but I will be ready as I always am for anything he brings".
