Quillin vs. Zerafa conference call transcript #PBConNBC

Quillin vs. Zerafa & Bundrage vs. Charlo
PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS ON NBC
MEDIA CONFERENCE CALL TRANSCRIPT

Lou DiBella
Thanks for joining us everybody for this press call for the PBC on NBC show, September 12, Saturday afternoon at Foxwoods Resorts Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The NBC broadcast will begin at 4:00 pm ET/1:00 pm PT. The doors will open at the casino at1:00 pm and the first bout at 1:05 p.m.

We have a sensational off TV undercard that you'll be learning more about in the next few days, and I look forward to everybody being in the arena, but if you're not, we look forward to people turning in to PBC on NBC, 4:00 pm ET/1:00 pm PT, for a tremendous doubleheader.

The main event of the evening is a fight between Peter Quillin, "Kid Chocolate" undefeated middleweight 31-0-1 with 22 KOs against Michael Zerafa, 17-1 with 9 KOs from Melbourne, Australia. This is a fight where Peter is looking to get to the big fight that's waiting for him at the end of this year in December against Daniel Jacobs for the world middleweight title.

Peter is a former world champion himself. He did not lose the title in the ring. He's undefeated and that matchup between Jacobs and Quillin figures to be one of the biggest fights you can make in New York, one of the biggest fights in the middleweight division. It's for the pride of New York. It's for who has supremacy in the middleweight division, and who's one of the top middleweights in the world. But first, Peter's got to get by Michael Zerafa who is looking to upset the apple cart.

Bill Calogero of @TalkinBoxing releases new book! #Boxing

TOM MOLINEAUX: From Bondage To Baddest Man On The Planet – A Must Read For All
Lake George, NY – Bill Calogero, host of boxing’s Undisputed Champion of Boxing Talk program, theTalkin Boxing With Billy C TV & Radio Show, officially released his first book, Tom Molineaux: From Bondage To Baddest Man On The Planet two weeks ago. Since then, the demand for signed copies, which are available through the Book Club section of the BillyCBoxing.com website, has not stopped.
The book tells the story of Tom Molineaux, who was born a Slave on a Virginia Plantation during the late 1700’s, became a fighter, fought and won his freedom, fought for a World Title and whose fame rose to the height of being the very first high-profile World-Wide sports celebrity. However, because of the color of his skin not only during his lifetime but unfortunately continues to this day, he has become virtually a forgotten name. Molineaux is not only an important piece of Boxing History he’s also a major part of American History. Calogero’s book tells the complete story and wants people to read the book and help set the record straight. It’s time to give Molineaux the credit he deserves.
Here’s What’s Been Said Recently About the Book:
Charley Fitch - Professional boxing referee:
Finished reading “Tom Molineaux” today and it is fantastic! Congratulations on writing a truly excellent book covering a person with historical significance that goes well beyond boxing.
What a story. Well written and interesting to read. A treasure of information that I’m going to be purchasing several more copies of as Christmas presents.
I loved the details and how you were able to put Molineaux’ achievements in historical context (slavery, American Revolution). This is much more than a boxing book. It’s important history from several often neglected aspects.
Plus, book was factual and told the story of a human being overcoming longest of odds to reach highest of highs only to succumb to the lowest of lows. It included the man’s warts, the character flaws and failings.  That is how life is. I loved the honesty of it.
Thank you for writing “From Bondage to Baddest Man on the Planet” and bringing Tom Molineaux’s amazing story to life. Before reading your book I knew nothing about him. Due to the work you have done that has changed.

The Clarion Hotel & Aqua Lagoon Water Park in West Springfield, Massachusetts was the site for a 20 bout amateur card tonight, sponsored by Old School Boxing in Agawam, MA and governed by USA Boxing.

Bout 1
Anthony Calabro vs. Quander Dukes
Old School Boxing   Bright Futures Gym
165lbs Novice 3 2min rds

Good first for Dukes, speedy punches. Hard chopping right from Calabro keeps Dukes on his bicycle throughout. Some clowning from Dukes especially in the final round, while Calabro pressed the action throughout but may have spent too much time catching and missing not enough landing.

After three the judges see it as a split in favor of Calabro.

Bout 2
Mary O'Leary vs. Neema Ajwani
Old School Boxing   Mendez Boxing
Females 106lbs Novice 3 2 min rds

O'Leary has a more orthodox, gloves high posture while Ajwani holds her hands low and slashes with quick long punches. Spirited effort from both women, O'Leary finished stronger and appeared to hurt Ajwani early in the third. Ajwani looked to have landed more often throughout to this observer but O'Leary finished much stronger.

Unanimous Decision win goes to the more plentiful punching Neema Ajwani.
