On this day in fistiana, Mike Tyson stopped Larry Holmes in four rounds in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This was the only stoppage defeat suffered by Holmes in his 75 bout professional career. Among the pre-fight name-calling and press conference back and forth, at one point Holmes claimed that Mike Tyson struck him as the kind of guy who would be dead or in jail by the time he was twenty-five. Tyson began serving his sentence for raping Desiree Washington in April of 1992, two months before he turned 26.
